HealthyStart® is an early intervention orthodontic system designed specifically for children that addresses the root causes of crooked teeth before they fully develop. Unlike traditional braces that correct teeth after problems are established, HealthyStart® uses comfortable, removable appliances to guide jaw development and tooth eruption in growing children. This proactive approach not only helps achieve proper dental alignment but also addresses sleep-disordered breathing issues, promotes proper oral habits, and can potentially eliminate the need for braces or reduce future orthodontic treatment complexity.
HealthyStart® treatment is most effective when started early, typically between ages 3-13, with ideal timing around ages 4-7. This period allows us to guide your child's natural growth and development. Early screening can identify potential issues like mouth breathing, teeth grinding, or abnormal swallowing patterns that might affect dental development. The specific starting age depends on your child's individual development and symptoms. We recommend scheduling an evaluation as soon as you notice signs of crowded teeth, breathing issues during sleep, or habitual mouth breathing.
HealthyStart® addresses numerous health concerns beyond dental alignment. The system can help improve sleep-disordered breathing problems like snoring and sleep apnea, which may contribute to issues such as bedwetting, nightmares, daytime drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating in school.
